Hi, I’m a psychiatrist in Chicago. I identify as Asian American, more specifically, second generation Chinese American. BTW, “first generation” is ambiguous because it can mean the first generation to be in the US (which is how I’m using it) or the first generation to be born in the US. My parents were born in China, came to the US, met here, and had me and my brother during the Baby Boom in a Chicago suburb that had black people and white people but hardly any Asian people.
