Hello! I'm Miles Poola-or, MA, MHC. If you're seeking a cultural-sensitive and non-judgemental space, you come to the right place. Whether you are a BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, an immigrant, an international student who is struggling to find their place in New York City, a performer or an actor who is striving to book a gig, a couple who is experiencing challenges due to cultural and lifestyles differences, or an individual who is striving for personal growth, you have come to the right place. The journey toward your healing and growth can be scary but you do not have to do it alone. I am here to help you along your journey.
As an Asian gay man who grew up in Thailand, I understand the challenges of living authentically while also trying to honor the norms, values, and expectations of the community you come from. Navigating and working towards our goals can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be impossible. With a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space, I will help you along the way as you figure out your path. I have experience working with sexual trauma, racial trauma, attachment-based trauma, and complex trauma. My work is influenced by Internal Family Systems, EMDR, mindfulness, Attachment Theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am a firm believer in approaching therapy through a Trauma-Informed lens, s well as utilizing a strength-based approach to empower clients o have full reign over their lives. I believe every individual is unique, and is an expert of their own lives. Hence, a core tenet in my clinical work is honoring and addressing intersectionality.
