Daisy Chow, M.Ed., LMHC, LPC

I am a licensed mental health counselor and I serve clients in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas. I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in various treatment settings, including private practice. I graduated with a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Houston – Texas (2006). I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas–Houston (2003).

My Specialties

I specialize in providing professional support and guidance for individuals who have experienced trauma such as sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, neglect, religious influence, and generational issues, as well as addressing shame, anxiety, depression, codependency, narcissistic abuse, fear of abandonment, and promoting gentle parenting techniques.

What Inspired Me To Be A Therapist

My personal experiences are what fueled my aspirations to become a therapist. When I was a child, I used to wonder why life was so painful. I experienced the loss of both parents, and sexual, emotional, and physical abuse – all before the age of 12. I remember feeling depressed and wanting to give up. One day, I decided to open up to the school counselor and for the first time, I felt heard. I felt like I finally had a voice. My counselor inspired me and I wanted to help others in the same way she had helped me.

As I pursued my education and gained experience in the field, I realized the power of therapy in transforming lives. Witnessing the progress and growth of my clients motivated me to continue on this path and make a difference in the lives of others. The ability to make a positive impact in someone’s life is an honor and a privilege, and I believe that being a therapist is more than just a job – it’s a calling.

My Approach

My approach is eclectic, a blend of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Shame-Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I believe that connection is most important in the therapeutic relationship and I strive to make my clients feel safe and heard.
