I believe both pain and healing are rooted in the relationships we have with ourselves and others. Therefore, I strive for warm, accepting relationships with my clients in order to foster authenticity and growth.
My primary focus in our work is attunement — to sense and respond to you through the work, bring curiosity to the present moment, find language for your inner worlds, and create space for the many parts of you. I work in collaboration with clients around issues regarding relationships and partnerships, codependency, identity, past trauma, self-esteem/self-confidence, and life transitions.
My approach is relational-cultural, integrated with approaches informed by attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. In other words, I care about your experience spanning from your family history to present day and I hold it within the context of your various identities. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and support you in cultivating your most authentic life.
As a second-generation Korean American therapist, I am attuned to the delicate web of intergenerational, multicultural dynamics experienced by many 1.5 and 2nd generation Asian Americans. I attend to dynamics of power and oppression, marginalization and privilege, belonging and intersectionality throughout my work.
I am passionate about working with Asian American individuals and couples in exploring relationships, self-esteem, codependency, identity, and healing.
I am currently offering virtual sessions only to residents of New York and Texas.
