As a queer, Korean therapist, I’m passionate about working with folks of Asian descent and people of marginalized genders of the global majority. I want us to be free from the harms of oppressive systems, and find belonging and home in ourselves and relationships.
I believe we are complex beings and there’s peace in honoring that. We have inner voices, parts of us, beliefs/narratives, emotions, and a clever nervous system that work to protect us. Our internal world is constantly responding to the outside world. I come with the lens that whatever is happening internally for you is not wrong – it deserves to be honored because there’s a good internal reason for what’s happening and I’m here to help you make sense of that.
Together, we’ll explore the conditions and multiple context of your life that inform what happens inside you and the ways your body works to protect you. Whatever context you bring deserves to be met with gentle curiosity. I follow your lead with offering choices, asking for consent, and discerning what’s informing the parts of you, states, and feelings you’re experiencing. I attune to what might be needed in the process to increase safety, connection, compassion and undo aloneness.
I believe my body can be a container for holding with you what comes up. I listen with my heart, ears, and body and bring grounded presence and warmth to support you in being seen, heard, and connected with. I invite an exploration of your breath, bodily sensations, 5 senses, emotions, parts of you, and movement so you can expand your ability to relate to yourself and move through difficult experiences with ease. I will be alongside you on the brave journey towards self-discovery and exploration.
My approach is eclectic and intuitive, and I pull from various therapeutic practices, including Internal Family Systems, Somatic Therapy, and Interpersonal Neurobiology.
I offer teletherapy to folks in New York, and anyone outside of NY state through the coaching model.
